Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2025

Introduction

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But here's the deal: we're architects, not data brokers. We only collect what's necessary to do our job well and keep in touch with folks who might wanna work with us.

At Onyx of Valorix Architecture, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what info we gather when you visit our website or reach out to us, and what we do (and don't do) with it. We're based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, so we follow Canadian privacy laws including PIPEDA.

Bottom line: We're not selling your data to anyone. Period. We're here to design buildings, not harvest personal information.

What Information We Collect

When you interact with us - whether through our website, email, or in person - we might collect a few different types of info:

Contact Information
  • Name and company details
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address
  • Project location info
Technical Stuff
  • IP address
  • Browser type & version
  • Device information
  • Pages you visited
  • Time spent on site

If you fill out our contact form or send us a project inquiry, we'll obviously keep that info too - can't help you design something if we don't know what you're looking for, right?

How We Actually Use Your Info

We're not complicated people. Here's what we do with the information you share:

Responding to You

Pretty straightforward - if you reach out asking about our services or a potential project, we need your contact details to get back to you. We'll use your info to answer questions, provide quotes, and discuss your architectural needs.

Project Management

Once we're working together, we'll keep your info on file for project communications, contract stuff, invoicing, and all the administrative things that come with running an architecture practice professionally.

Website Improvements

Those technical details help us figure out how people use our site - which pages are popular, where folks are getting stuck, that kind of thing. Helps us make the site better over time.

Occasional Updates

If you've worked with us or expressed interest, we might send you an occasional email about new services or interesting projects we've completed. But we're architects, not spammers - we won't flood your inbox. And you can opt out anytime.

Who We Share Information With (Spoiler: Almost Nobody)

We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Full stop. That said, there are a few situations where we might need to share certain details:

Service Providers

We work with a few trusted companies that help us run our business - things like email hosting, website maintenance, and accounting software. They only get access to info they need to do their job, and they're contractually obligated to keep it confidential.

Legal Requirements

If we're legally required to disclose information (like a court order or government investigation), we'll comply with the law. But we'll fight any unreasonable requests and notify you if legally permitted.

Project Consultants

Sometimes we collaborate with engineers, contractors, or other specialists on projects. We'll only share relevant project info with them, and only with your knowledge and consent.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Yeah, we use cookies - but not the chocolate chip kind. These are small files that help our website work better and remember your preferences. Nothing sinister, promise.

Cookie Type Purpose Duration
Essential Make the website function properly Session
Analytics Help us understand how visitors use our site Up to 2 years
Preferences Remember your settings and choices Up to 1 year

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can block or delete cookies, but heads up - some parts of our website might not work as smoothly if you do.

Your Privacy Rights

It's your data, so you've got rights. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Data

Ask us what personal info we have about you. We'll provide it in a readable format.

Correct Mistakes

If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it.

Delete Your Info

Request deletion of your data (unless we need it for legal or contractual reasons).

Opt Out of Marketing

Unsubscribe from our emails anytime - there's a link at the bottom of each one.

To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at info@onyxofvalorix.info. We'll get back to you within 30 days, usually much faster.

How We Protect Your Data

We take security seriously - we design buildings that last, and we protect data with the same care. Here's what we do:

  • Our website uses SSL encryption (that's the little padlock in your browser)
  • We store data on secure servers with restricted access
  • Our team is trained on data protection best practices
  • We regularly update our systems and software
  • Physical files are kept in locked cabinets at our Vancouver office
Real talk: No security is 100% perfect. We do everything reasonable to protect your info, but no system is completely bulletproof. If there's ever a data breach affecting you, we'll let you know right away and explain what happened and what we're doing about it.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We don't hoard data forever. Here's our general approach:

Active projects: We keep your info for as long as we're working together, plus seven years after project completion (that's the legal requirement for architectural records in Canada).

Inquiries that don't turn into projects: We'll keep your contact info for about two years in case you change your mind, then delete it unless you ask us to keep it longer.

Marketing contacts: If you've signed up for updates, we'll keep your info until you unsubscribe or your email bounces repeatedly.

Website analytics: Aggregated, anonymous data might be kept longer for trend analysis, but it won't identify you personally.

Children's Privacy

Our services aren't aimed at kids under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're a parent and think your child has somehow given us their info, please contact us and we'll delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We might update this privacy policy occasionally - usually when laws change or we add new services. When we make significant changes, we'll post a notice on our website and update the date at the top. If you're on our mailing list, we'll probably send you a heads up too.

We won't make changes that reduce your rights under this policy without your explicit consent.

International Visitors

We're based in Vancouver, Canada, and that's where we store and process your information. If you're visiting our site from outside Canada, your info will be transferred here. By using our website, you're agreeing to that transfer.

Canada has pretty strong privacy laws (PIPEDA), and we follow them carefully. If you're in the EU or UK, you've got additional rights under GDPR - just reach out and we'll make sure you can exercise them.

Questions or Concerns?

Look, privacy policies can be confusing. If you've got questions about how we handle your information, or if you wanna exercise any of your rights, just get in touch. We're actual humans who'll respond in plain English.
